The leader of the rating was “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson. In November 2021, he sold part of his visual effects studio Weta Digital to Unity Software for $1.6bn, earning $580m. The deal made Jackson the third billionaire director in history after Spielberg and George Lucas.
Second place on the list went to musician Bruce Springsteen. Last December, he sold the master recordings and the rights to release all of his recorded music, including 11 multi-platinum albums, to Sony Music for almost $500 million.
