Who is Elon Musk and why is everyone talking about him?
Elon Musk is an American inventor, visionary and billionaire. At the annual update of the billionaire rankings in 2022, Forbes magazine officially named him the richest man on Earth for the first time with a fortune of $219 billion. In the previous couple of years, Musk became one several times – but only by “real time” rankings, periodically losing to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Musk is primarily known for two projects – electric car manufacturer Tesla and space company SpaceX. On May 30, 2020, SpaceX made the first ever private manned launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft into space. Prior to that, for nine years, astronauts were delivered to the ISS only Russian ships of the Soyuz series. SpaceX is also actively developing a project to send Internet satellites into low-Earth orbit. With the help of a constellation of such vehicles, Musk intends to create a global network providing residents with broadband Internet anywhere on the planet. Another famous SpaceX project is the plans to colonize Mars by earthlings. In October 2022, the entrepreneur also acquired the social network Twitter.
