Biography of Elon Musk
The entrepreneur was born in the family of engineer Errol Musk and nutritionist and famous model May Musk on June 28, 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. He has a younger brother Kimbal, who owns The Kitchen restaurant chain, and a sister Tosca, currently a movie director and producer.
Musk earned his first $500 at the age of 12 by selling a video game of his own design called Blastar, and invested the money in shares of a pharmaceutical company. After selling them, Musk was able to leave South Africa for Canada after his parents divorced, where he studied for a while before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. There he earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and economics, and later enrolled at Stanford, which he dropped out of before a week to start his own business: Musk and his brother Kimball started Zip2 Corporation. It offered software for news firms and was later sold to American personal computer company Compaq. The entrepreneur then received $22 million for his share.
